Centennial Celebration
Join us as we celebrate the town first known as “Bushwick Village” which became the proudest community in Ocean County with a blacksmith, wheelwright, carpenter, shoemaker, and mason. On March 20, 1927, the Borough South Toms River was declared a body corporate and became governed by the rules and laws of the State of New Jersey. Join Mayor and Council for an unforgettable evening as South Toms River celebrates America's 250th Birthday at Mathis Plaza! Beginning at 6:00 PM, families can enjoy a festive atmosphere filled with patriotic pride, delicious food trucks, and community spirit. Mayor and Council members will be dressed in historic and patriotic attire, honoring the nation's rich heritage while celebrating alongside residents and visitors. Children are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite American historical figures, adding to the colorful and family-friendly celebration. The evening will feature patriotic music, family activities, and plenty of opportunities to create lasting memories with neighbors and friends. The festivities will conclude with a spectacular fireworks display lighting up the South Toms River sky in honor of 250 years of American independence.
